Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The newest action-packed game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing violence and madness with equal glee, all while telling engaging, ideologically themed narratives. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose projects have exemplified all of those elements.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by featuring a different backdrop and group of personalities in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series via their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their constant confidence and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a idea, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the core of society through this complex and chaotic perspective, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, ambitious approach to the audience.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
